Minimize

Dear Reader;

 I've been kicking around quite a few ideas in the past two years in respect to this blog. Every time I make a change I wait for a little while to see how it fits...and then I tweek it...sometimes with more pictures or more colour.

 I had to spend an entire week resting on my couch because I was suffering from a serious skin infection. One week before all hell broke loose, I had noticed  two tiny itchy spots...one under my arm and the other on my right hip. I did take care of them but regardless within a few days the infection spread to one quarter of my body. Although I don't care for hospitals or antibiotics....in this case..the doctor saved my skin...literally.

As I was saying.... while I sat looking at the walls I found so many things that were bothering me....so every time I got up I would edit another item out of my room.....a few books....the white voile curtains...the white canopy over my bed....etc...etc. The more items I removed ..the better I felt.

 Now once again I have a huge box ready to be sent to the Salvation Army.

I decided to edit  the unnecessary  out of my blog as well  because the goal of the blog is simply to inspire.

Simplify.

Wood Envy:)

Dear Readers;

 I had never heard the term ``Wood Envy`` before living on the Island. After suffering through a very cold first winter trying to heat a large drafty house that had zero insulation with punky, wet, green, soft wood, Gord and I would drive by other homes and for the first time in our lives notice the homes that had in their yards... cord after cord of seasoned,dry, hardwood stacked in beautiful long rows. We could just imagine how the wood would burn all winter long and keep the fortunate occupants of those homes....warm...and happy. Those smart souls had planned ahead but not just one year ahead but quite possibly three to five years ahead. We developed the dreaded state of lust appropriately named ``Wood Envy.``

This year we decided to put our own five year wood plan into action. Natha cleaned out the big shed nearest the house. We ordered a load of fill to raise the level of the floor of the shed up a good 10 inches. This shed would house not only the tractor and snow plow but cords and cords of lovely,dry firewood.

 Gord and Natha have been working for days and days to get the wood cut...split and stacked. They aren`t finished yet...not by a long shot...but we do have enough wood in the shed for this winter...now we have to start on next years supply and the years after that.

I believe that we are starting to think like an Islander:)

Lots of wood to start the fire..Yay!

The huge pile is getting smaller by the day.

Natha is learning a new skill...splitting wood!

I see the baby chain saw but where is Gord....
